It Geert and Iebeltien cottage situated on the main canal, surrounded by the beautiful nature reserve ‘Weerribben’, on the outskirts of the village Kalenberg and is surrounded by over 3000 hectares of nature National Park Weerribben-Wieden. The ultimate place for nature lovers, bird watchers, rest seekers and anglers.

Over 40% of the landscape of De Weerribben-Wieden National Park is water, about 40% are impassable reeds and swamp. A boat also is the distinct way to explore the amazing area. In the village Kalenberg are several opportunities for water sports, cruises and renting (whispering) boats and canoes. You can also connect directly from the cottage on several sailing, hiking and biking. In the village are also bicycles for rent. Furthermore, the nature cottage is perfect for people who love fishing. You can throw out a fishing rod directly from the garden.

The nature area The Weerribben is situated at the head (north-west) of Overijssel in the National Park Weerribben-Wieden. The park is the largest peat bog in Western Europe. A wetland nature reserve with ponds and ditches, extensive reedbeds, meadows full of rare flowers, dense swamp forests and a rich cultural history. The otter is the symbol of the park. In the Netherlands around 1980 and died in 2002 very successfully reintroduced in the Weerribben. Otters regularly be seen there today and found otter tracks.
